The digital age

The digital age
The digital age

How we access media now compared to how we used to access it has drastically changed over the past few years. Currently you can find out about global events occurring through social media before news sources have even had time to report on them, and accessing media such as magazines, movies and products can be done by the click of a button. The digital age, also sometimes referred to as the information age, is when a large amount of information is widely available and easily accessible through modern technology. We can see this in action with advancement in 5G technology as well as through distribution companies such as Uber, Netflix, Peloton and DoorDash. Even news and magazines provide easier access to their stories and articles through social media, online PDF's and QR codes, such as the BBC for news and our very own Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast Magazine. Accessibility has never been easier and more streamlined for the user. But what does this mean for physical media such as print? We've said it once and we'll say it 100 times more, print isn't dead. However, as we advance further in the digital age the consideration must be made about making your media more accessible to the masses. Expecting customers or users to play by your rules on how they access your content isn't the best strategy to go by. Even for services such as the Yellow Pages are quickly becoming obsolete with the option of accessing a local handyman through a single Google search. If you want to avoid being left behind, there are a few easy things you can do right now to bring your current business up to speed in the digital age.

  1. Establishing your business on social media:
One of the easiest ways anyone can find your business and what people think about is searching for you on social media. There they can see photos of the work you've done (whether it be a dish from your restaurant or the results of a service you provide), and what people think about it in the comments/reviews of the social media pages.
  1. Creating a My Google Business account:
Ensuring your business can be found on Google is very important and a quick and simple way of doing so is creating a My Google Business Account. When this is created and people search for you on Google, they will be able to find your business, the contact details, address as well as the website of your business.
  2. Making your product accessible online:
As mentioned before with our production of the Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast magazine, the original magazine was a physical product, however it was found that more people were interested in accessing the magazine in a digital format, so we created a digital version of the magazine for users to access and read anywhere at any time if they have a phone or computer.

These and other small changes to your businesses marketing can help ensure your continue to grow through the ever-changing digital age.
